Apply Now Children's Programs - School for Children Start Date: Jun 1, 2021 Salary: Commensurate with experience Responsibilities The Director of Auxiliary Programs & Summer Camp is responsible for leading, developing and coordinating all aspects of After School and spring break and summer programs, including staff supervision, scheduling, programming, human resources, marketing and communication, and facilities planning. The Director will serve on the Children’s Programs Leadership Team. The Director will oversee: - Bank Street Summer Camp, which has historically been a leading NYC Day Camp, serving 400 children each summer with a robust aquatics program
- an After School program that has historically served more than 300 School for Children students each week through a variety of engaging and enriching programs for all ages
- Spring Camp, which has offered a two week spring break experience to 100 children each year
During the COVID-19 pandemic, all auxiliary programs have been virtual, and the Director will be part of the team that will continue to build engaging virtual programs, as well as bring programs back to the building when health and safety conditions allow. While the position begins in June of 2021, some part time work may be required to ramp up for the summer and fall of 2021. This is a 12 month position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Program - Develop, plan, coordinate, oversee, implement and evaluate all aspects of a successful and high quality Summer Camp, Spring Camp and After School program
- Develop and implement recruitment plans to meet budget goals
- Administer a program budget of $2 million for Summer Camp, Spring Camp and After School program
- Manage all marketing and promotional activities, including attendance at internal and external promotional events (some taking place on weekends)
- Develop relationships and maintain ongoing communication with parents and families
- Coordinate and manage over 400 local and long distance trips for Summer Camp
- Participate in committee review of Financial Aid applications for Camp
- Actively pursue diversity of staff and families in Auxiliary Programs
- Oversee implementation, management and upkeep of all digital systems
Staff Supervision - Work in conjunction with Summer Camp and Auxiliary Programs Supervisory Staff to oversee personnel and programming decisions
- Hire, supervise, observe and evaluate Auxiliary programs staff and vendors on an ongoing basis
- Oversee all staff development and training for Auxiliary programs
- Supervise and help manage the Camp Aquatics program
- Mentor SFC and Summer Camp Alumni through Camp Leadership Development Program
Regulatory - Responsible for Department of Health licensing and adhering to all mandatory standards and requirements
- Coordinate with Nursing staff to ensure compliance with all health regulations
- Evaluate, negotiate and approve contracts with vendors and venues, including off-site pool facility and transportation/bussing providers
- Maintain a national presence and accreditation within the American Camp Association
- Maintain summer camp program provider partnership with 1199 (Health Care Workers Union)
