Posting Summary: The Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports, a division of Athletics at the University of Virginia, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Swim Instructor (part-time, wage position). Swim Instructors work at both the Aquatic & Fitness and North Grounds Recreation Center aquatics facilities.
Swim Instructors serve this community in a respectful, professional, and positive manner by identifying key elements and strategies for planning and preparing effective and safe swim lessons, key class management principles, elements and strategies for planning, preparing and conducting safe swim lessons.
SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS: Teach private swim lessons, group youth, and/or group adult lessons. Private swim lessons are based on instructor and participant availability. Group Adult Beginner and Advanced Beginner Swim Lessons are scheduled year round Monday/Wednesday form 6pm-8pm and Tuesday/Thursday 6pm-8pm. Group Youth Lessons are scheduled year round. Group Youth Lessons are taught on Sundays from 12:30pm-4pm during the Fall & Spring academic semester. Summer Group Youth Lessons are held Monday-Friday from 4pm-7pm during the last two weeks of May and the first two weeks of June.

Required Minimum Level of Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Not Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Candidates attending high school and 16 years of age or older may be considered.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: - Swim instruction experience
Required License or Certification: - CPR/AED Professional Rescuer, First Aid Certification.
Preferred License or Certification: - American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Self-motivated - Ability to work in a team environment.
