|I. Supervision (35%) Ã¯ Supervise and evaluate swim staff working in specified program. Provide written evaluations on all staff. Ã¯ Organize, implement, and document training program including bi-weekly staff meetings. Ã¯ Assist Director to ensure staff have current required certifications and provide trainings as needed. Ã¯ As directed by supervisor, schedule staff and secure substitutes for swim lesson programs. Ã¯ Ensure staff are following stated CYOP policies and procedures and providing safe, fun swim lessons. Provide corrective feedback and discipline if necessary. |
II. Administrative (30%) Ã¯ Provide general supervision (including in locker room) and downtime activities for all campers in his/her care Ã¯ Account for all campers, take attendance regularly, and follow check-in/out procedures Ã¯ Walk children safely between locations and on water/bathroom breaks Ã¯ Assist campers with belongings, lost and found, sunscreen/water, trash pick-up, etc. Ã¯ Resolve disciplinary problems appropriately, complete Incident Reports as needed Ã¯ Demonstrate good judgment
III. Programmatic (30%) Ã¯ Prepare for swim lesson programs (i.e. facilities, equipment, rosters, lifeguard). Provide on-deck supervision. Ã¯ Supervise, organize, and execute swim lessons, including: assigning children to levels, staffing assignments, parent orientation & check-in. With Camp Coordinator manage locker room swim changes. Ã¯ Establish regular and open communication with on-site Camp Coordinators, CYOP Directors, Weekend Supervisor, etc. Ã¯ Administer first aid as needed and in accordance with set procedures. Ã¯ Evaluate existing programs and logistics on an ongoing basis and develop methods to improve program and service delivery. Ã¯ Ensure staff have safe and appropriate equipment and supplies. Ã¯ Develop and manage a system to return lost and found.
IV. Other (5%) Ã¯ Displays appropriate behavior (action and language) around participants, campers, parents, and staff. Ã¯ Follows all policies and procedures including, wearing camp uniform and following agreed upon work schedule. Ã¯ Demonstrates good judgment. Ã¯ Maintains current certifications: LGT, CPR/FPR. Ã¯ Fills in for Strawberry Canyon staff or receptionists as needed. Ã¯ Performs miscellaneous tasks as requested by supervisor.
V. Certifications Current American Red Cross (or equivalent) certifications in Standard First Aid & CPR (youth, adult) and including AED is strongly recommended for all staff.Knowledge and Skills: Ã¯ 2-3 yearsÃ experience with youth camps or outdoor programs. Ã¯ Experience assisting with the supervision of swim instructors, aquatics facilities, and swimming lessons. Ã¯ Has advanced knowledge of aquatics programs activities. Ã¯ Previous experience working with age level specific to the aquatics activity. Ã¯ Position requires work leadership and inter-personal skills for those in a lead capacity, and the ability to work effectively across the organization, internally and externally. Ã¯ Service orientation, program management, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking, develop original ideas, creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment. Ã¯ Must be able to work effectively, across all organization levels, internally and externally . Ã¯ Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking. Ã¯ Must have highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Ã¯ Must be proficient in the use of basic computer applications. Ã¯ Knowledge of campus policies and procedures. Ã¯ Must be able to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
Education: Ã¯ High school diploma and college graduation or equivalent certification is preferred.
Licenses or certifications: Ã¯ Current American Red Cross Certifications in Water Safety Instruction, Standard First Aid and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers. Sensory abilities (hearing, seeing, etc.) necessary to perform the duties of the position. Approximately 24 summer swim instructor positions available and 3 Aquatic Coordinator positions available.
