Child Supervision & Class Management (40%) Ã¯ Maintain a safe class atmosphere and keep constant watch over participants Ã¯ Follow check-in/out procedures Ã¯ Walk children safely between meeting location and pool, monitor locker room changes when applicable Ã¯ Demonstrate good judgement Ã¯ Resolve disciplinary problems appropriately, complete Incident Reports as needed
Administrative (15%) Ã¯ Demonstrate responsibility in regard to work schedule, meetings & trainings Ã¯ Demonstrate responsibility toward equipment, e.g. clipboard, pool toys, pool covers and supplies (keep in order, well maintained, and return to their proper location) Ã¯ Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time (course record sheets, progress reports, attendance, timesheets, lesson plans, etc.) Ã¯ Maintain and submit copy of current certifications as listed in the job description Ã¯ Follow all aquatic program, pool facility, camp, and emergency policies & procedures
Other (5%) Ã¯ Dress in appropriate and well maintained attire/uniform while instructing. Instructors are required to purchase their own navy blue one-piece or two-piece workout swimsuit. Ã¯ Maintain a positive attitude while working, help wherever needed, work well with co-workers Ã¯ Display good customer service skills, especially with the public, parents, and recreational swimmers Ã¯ Accept feedback and make necessary corrections Ã¯ Display appropriate behavior (action and language) around campers, parents, and staff Ã¯ Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by supervisor
Certifications Ã¯ American Red Cross First Aid Ã± required Ã¯ American Red Cross CPR and AED for Adult and Child Ã± required Ã¯ Ability to work and relate well with children (ages 6 months -18 years old)Swim instructor: Experience as a swimming instructor and aquatic activities. Ability to work with children (6 mos. - 16 yrs.). Current American Red Cross certifications in: First Aid, CPR and AED for Adult and Child. Sensory abilities (hearing, seeing, etc) necessary to perform the duties of the position. Approximately 24 summer swim instructor positions available, and 3 Aquatic Coordinator positions available.
