<p>Summary of Position:<br />The candidate will conduct experiments to characterize the microorganisms associated with aquatic invasive species including Eurasian watermilfoil, and quagga and zebra mussels.<br /><br />Essential and Other Functions:<br />70% Conduct Experiments<br />? Perform periodic field trips to water bodies to collect invasive and native species, and<br />environmental samples<br />? Process samples for physicochemical and microbiological analyses<br />? Maintain lab-based microcosm experiments<br />? Perform microbiological experiments using a combination of cultivation and<br />molecular approaches<br /><br />15% Design Experiments<br />? Participate in the design and implementation of research projects<br /><br />15% Lab Maintenance<br />? Perform routine lab maintenance, media and reagent preparation</p>
<p>Essential Qualifications:<br />? BS /BA in Biological Sciences/ Microbiology and 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of related education and work experience to equal five years.<br />? Experience in field sampling and working in a microbiology lab.<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications:<br />? Experience working with aquatic invasive species</p>
